You only have a few hours left to make your charitable donations count in your 2013 tax year. Here are a few helpful tips to make the most of your giving spirit!
BE AN INFORMED GIVER
Donate to an organization with which you are already familiar or have given to in the past. You know they are in good standing with the IRS and you can continue to build on the relationship.
Do some quick online research on charities that are new to your donation list on the following sites:
IRS Exempt Organization Select Check – can help you determine if the organization has a tax exempt status.
It’s always a good idea to do a quick news search on a web search engine to see if the charity name came up in a news story this year. This can help you determine if there have been any issues with the charity or maybe they have been honored or received an award this year!
AND FINALLY, make a New Year’s Resolution to really make your giving count in 2014 by building a relationship with your favorite charity, not only through your financial gifts, but also giving of your time and talents!
Here’s to a prosperous 2014!
Happy New Year from the Grunduski Group Team!
