The Journal of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (JOPERD) recently featured a great inclusion piece written by Ronald Davis, a professor and coordinator of the doctoral program in Adapted Physical Activity at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX, focusing on getting disabled students off the sideline & into the game! National groups, including the American Association of Adapted Sports Programs also contributed to the article. The purpose of the feature is to provide general physical educators, adapted physical educators, and school district administrators assistance in addressing the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) guidance document titled Dear Colleague Letter, which enhances opportunities for students with disabilities to participate in school sports.
